Of 6,600 cops who underwent health check-up, 460 cops suffered from serious health problems; 113 were overweight

Results of a recent health check-up camp revealed the unhealthy state of affairs among city cops. Several cops were diagnosed with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and haemoglobin deficiency. One of them was found to be HIV positive.
Reliable sources revealed that the cop is a 40-year-old police sub-inspector who serves on the field.
Police Commissioner S K Sinha said “We have received a copy of the medical report for each officer.”
About the HIV-positive cop, the police chief said, “His identity will remain concealed. We will transfer him to a desk job so that he is not forced to endure the rigours of field work. We will also extend our full support to him.” Over as 6,600 policemen participated in the health check-up held in July. Of these, 113 have been found overweight, 95 have diabetes, 91 have high BP, seven suffer from lung disease while one each suffer from tuberculosis and asthma.
Expressing concern, Sinha said overweight policemen will be asked to shed weight and become fit.
